raging road river

Early to rise, late to sleep. Today was along day. Cheryl loaded us up with strawberries, grapes, and bottles of water for our ride. We still had a pan full of krispie treats from Theresa just begging to be downed. We drove 1000 miles today from Las Vegas to North Platte, NE. Vera is trucking along. I'm so thankful we made it through the desert and the mountains to a point where if she dies, at least Jason can come pick us up with a car trailer. A few highlights along the way: we saw the Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobile, followed the powerful Colorado River, drove through the Rocky Mountains, and stopping at Officers Gulch just outside of Breckenridge to step into the river and cool off a little. The water was freezing. I planned on just jumping in, washing off a little, but it was too cold for that. So, we washed our legs, enjoyed the incredible reflection in the still pond that flowed into the river, and continued on our way. We even got a jump start on some wedding planning. I got out post it notes and started writing down whatever ideas came to mind. My passenger side window was covered by the time we quit. It's going to be fun to dream big and plan a fun day of celebration!

We tried finding a hotel in Colorado around 11:00, but when we couldn't, we just kept trucking a few hours into Nebraska where we finally found a hotel at 2:00 a.m. We were both out the second our heads hit the pillow. Thanks be to God for our safe travel today. Sooo close to home!
